Today marks a new year. Thank god that one is behind us... Even if only half of 2021 is good that will be an improvement!
Man, Kevin Costner’s career has been going steady for so long. It's pretty impressive. We started watching “Yellowstone” and it just made me think of that. Yes, I know there have been a lot of stinkers in there too...Draft Day.
Missed a couple things at the grocery store yesterday so I walked up to Sobeys before noon. It was snowing out. I like walking in the snow. It helps me detach, reflect, and compartmentalize aspects of my life.
Busy day at work (first day back from the holidays). Joined a 30 day yoga journey with Okham. This year, I want to try and better manage my state of mind. We'll see how it goes.
It really urks me when people can't respect other peoples time. It's day 2 back at work and things are already collapsing. Maybe some yoga will do me good.
Wow. The States are really messed up. Not since the war of 1812 has the Capitol been stormed so aggressively. It really saddens me to see, and the immense power that misinformation has on creating such strong social and political devides is truly frightening.
I need to stop worrying about life so much and just start appreciating it more. Playing the stock market a bit these days. Not for any serious money. More just for fun. Who knows? Maybe I'll make a couple bucks.
I'm sorry, I dont want to play 'Among Us'. Why do people get so sensitive when I say this? The mob mentality sets in (fitting, in this instance...) and I am immediately ostracized like I'm one of the lepers...
Ran my first 10k since October. I should have avoided the trails because I ended up wasting 20 minutes slipping and sliding along a track of ice. Despite this, I managed to keep the run just under 1hr. Going to be sore tomorrow.
Low key day. Laundry day. Grocery day. Typical Sunday. It was my grandma's birthday so we gave her a call and had a nice chat.
So I guess I'm now into Kevin Costner content? After finishing season 2 of "Yellowstone" with Okham I decided to watch "The Bodygaurd". Still not sure that was a good choice.
Work was really doling out some tight-chested anxiety to me today. I need to stay true to my dedication for work-life balance, or this will soon overtake me. Gonna play some Phasmophobia tonight. Nothing helps you unwind and rid anxiety quite like a jump-scare horror game...right?
Anyone else feel like it's Friday already? That's alright I guess. At least The Challenge is on tonight.
Not enough hours in the day... Side note, Okham's niece is growing up so fast. We had a video chat with her today and her little personality is growing just as fast as she is! I think Okham really needed the call. I like that it makes her happy.
Cracked open a bottle of 'Cao Ila 12 Years' to wind down after what seemed like a never ending week. Watched the Mavs fall short to the Bucks in the last 10 seconds of the game. You give it your all for 48 minutes only to let it slip away in the final moments. Kind of poetic, no?
The new computer has allowed me to game and chat with people I haven't seen in a while. It's nice that I've been able to connect with old friends.
Classic Sunday; organizing, cleaning, cooking. Ran another 10k. If I find an interesting podcast it really helps me get through a run of that size.
Some people love the center stage too much. I hope it's not detrimental to me. I know work is important, but I feel like I create so much unnecessary stress for myself, pulling worries out of thin air. It's just a job, and I do really enjoy it, but it isn't my whole life, right?
Went through a good deal of Radiohead's discography today. Now I can't stop listening to it all! Love it. I forgot how much I like 'Kid A' as an album.
Okham and I started 'The Mandalorian' recently. It's more enjoyable than I would have expected (especially as someone who isn't a big fan of Star Wars). I appreciate the choice to use practical effects over CGI where possible (gives it a nice charm) and I like that it seems to draw from the best parts of the orginal movies. Thanks to my brother for giving me the recommendation that I needed to actually give this a shot.
Top five shows I watched in 2020:
1. The Wire
2. The Sopranos (A close second)
3. The Good Lord Bird
4. The Last Dance
5. The Boys
COVID plagues the planet. Climate change continues its rampant destruction. Ratial, political, and socio-economical divides are at all-time highs. But hey, at least we have inauguration Bernie.
